How to earn stipend points
Below is information about how students can earn the most stipend points in the Sinclair Upward Bound Program.
The more stipend points a student earns, the bigger their stipend check will be!
Virtual Study Tables
After-School Study Tables are 100% virtual on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., September 12, 2023 to May 15, 2024.

Students must attend at least 90 minutes of virtual study tables a week (minutes can be split between two sessions) and complete an exit ticket(s) to receive 200 stipend points a week.
tutoring & Workshops
Students who attend at least 90 minutes of our Academic Workshop & Tutoring session will receive a total of 200 stipend points a week.
refer a Friend
Students can recruit their friends to join the program to potentially earn 200 stipend points per friend that is accepted into the program.

Students should complete the "Refer a Friend" form to be able to receive points. A form should be filled out for each friend that the student recruits. Points will only be awarded once the person they recruited is officially accepted into the program. Students should be proactive when recruiting a friend i.e. showing them where and how to complete our online application.

There is no limit for how many stipend points can be earned so students are encouraged to recruit as many eligible friends as possible.
Campus Nights & Super Saturdays
Upward Bound holds monthly events (with free food) that allows students to earn even more stipend points!
Attending an event and staying for a MAJORITY of the time without any behavior problems will result in 200 points for Campus Nights and 400 points for Super Saturdays. Students leaving early MUST have a formal excuse and let their advisor know ahead of time to still receive points! Advisors are able to confirm if a student will receive points or not based off of participation and behavior during these events.

Semester GPA
Students will receive points for their semester GPA.
The following shows the amount of points a student could earn each semester.

0-2.499 = 0 points
-
2.5-2.99 = 200 points
-
3.0-3.499 = 400 points
-
3.5-3.99 = 600 points
-
4.0 & above = 800 points

Students should be maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Students whose GPA is above a 3.0 will receive extra stipend points!
Individual Success Plans
Students will complete individual success plans each semester with their Sinclair Upward Bound academic advisor.

Students will receive 200 stipend points a semester for completing an individual success plan. ​
