What is Sinclair Upward Bound?

Upward Bound (UB) is a Pre-College Program funded by the U.S. Department of Education for the purpose of assisting eligible high school students who plan to pursue a college education.  Since 1995, Sinclair Upward Bound has provided services and activities oriented towards high school graduation and college readiness.

The mission of the Sinclair Community College Upward Bound Program is to increase the likelihood that participants successfully graduate from high school and go on to enroll in and complete post-secondary education.

We envision a program that employs best practices to provide intensive, individualized advising, connect students to resources, and implements equitable curriculum, programming, and interactions to ensure student success.

How do I find out my counselor or teacher's information?

Students will be prompted to enter their teacher or counselor's information at the end of Part Two of the application so they can complete a Letter of Recommendation.

All Dayton Public School's staff information can be found on their directory.

Students will need to let their teacher or counselor know that they need to complete the form. The recommendation form will automatically send to the teacher or counselor's email once Part Two of the application is submitted.

What happens after I apply?

Once all three parts of the application are completed and collected and Sinclair Upward Bound has the student’s most recent report card and/or transcript, then the review process will begin to see if they are eligible for the program.

Students may be contacted to complete a virtual interview with the Project Director of Sinclair Upward Bound. This may be mandatory if a report/transcript or letter of recommendation cannot be obtained.
